The right order matters
Workspaces keep accounts, budgets, and transactions together. Accounts and categories come next so the first transaction has somewhere useful to land.
Getting Started
Create a workspace, add the accounts you actually use, set up spending categories, then start tracking transactions without overbuilding the system.
Workspace first. Accounts second. Categories third. Daily tracking after that.
Start strong. Spend smarter.

How It Works
Follow the same order the app is built around: create the workspace, add accounts, build budget categories, then start tracking real transactions.
Open Workspaces and tap Create Workspace. Give it a clear name like Personal Budget, Family Budget, or Business Mileage.
Open Accounts, tap Menu, then Add. Enter an account name, initial balance, last four digits when useful, and the account type.
Open Budget. If there are no categories yet, use Quick Add. Add category names, monthly budget amounts, and rollover settings.
Add a transaction manually, scan a receipt, or import a CSV later. Keep the first pass simple so the system is easy to maintain.
Use Accounts for balances, Budget for monthly spending, Transactions for records, Receipts for proof, and Reports when you are ready to review patterns.
First Setup
UltiBudget works best when setup starts small. Create one workspace, add the accounts you actually check, build a few useful categories, then let real transactions teach you what to adjust.
Workspaces keep accounts, budgets, and transactions together. Accounts and categories come next so the first transaction has somewhere useful to land.
Initial balances affect tracking, so account setup asks for the name, balance, last four digits when helpful, and the account type before daily use begins.
Manual entries, receipt scans, and CSV imports can all build from the structure you created without forcing you to over-plan on day one.
